Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2025

1. What We Collect

We collect the absolute minimum data required to provide you with a functional and reliable service.

  • Email address – collected when you create an account so you can log in, reset your password, and receive service-related notices.
  • Purchase status – returned by Apple / Google to unlock Premium features.
  • Crash & error logs (anonymised) – only if the app crashes, so we can diagnose problems.
  • Device location – accessed only while the map is open and you have granted permission. These coordinates stay on your device and are not stored or transmitted to our servers.

We do not upload or store your favorited waypoints, waypoints you add, notes, or tracks — they remain solely on your device.

2. How We Use the Data

  • Operate core features (account login, purchase access).
  • Improve reliability by analysing anonymous crash reports.
  • Send critical service updates (no marketing spam).

3. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase – hosts authentication and the minimal account data we keep.
  • Apple / Google In-App Payments – manage purchases; we receive transaction IDs only.
  • Mapbox CDN – delivers map tiles; requests are anonymous.
  • Expo crash reporting – optional, sends anonymised stack traces.

4. Data Security

All traffic uses HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed with modern algorithms and database access is restricted to authorised staff.

5. Your Choices & Rights

You may request to download or delete your account data. To initiate account deletion, you can either follow the instructions within the app or email us at hello@lobsterly.co.

6. Children’s Privacy

Lobsterly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

7. Changes to This Policy

We’ll post any changes here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be announced in-app or via email.
